Hello! We are excited
about making our first class blog post. We
are a second grade class in an elementary school in Colorado. We have an awesome principal named Mrs.
Hepworth.
We have a big playground.
We have the hippo slides (it looks like a hippo and has three different
slides), monkey bars, swings, a jungle gym, a big hill, and places to play
basketball. When there is no snow on the
ground we have a bucket with hula-hoops, jump ropes, basketballs, footballs,
soccer balls, and regular balls on the playground.
Our school has two classes in each grade level except for
first grade. First grade has three
classes. We have pre-school through
fifth grade in our elementary school. Our
class has 18 students. We have 9 boys
and 9 girls. We have classroom
jobs. We get to keep these jobs for an
entire month. Everyone has a job. Our jobs are: pencil sharpener, calendar
helper, special helper, line leader, computer helper, paper passers, lunch box
helpers, librarians, attendance helper, line ender, floor checker, mailbox
helpers, and light helper.
We get to do our calendar math on the SmartBoard. We are learning about measuring with
centimeters and meters. We measured
things in our classroom. We take ACE
tests after reading books. These tests
are also called AR tests. We are writing
personal recounts or to tell about a time stories. We are learning how to type using Dance Mat
Typing. It is one of our favorite things
to do. We are getting to be very fast
typers. We get to go to P.E. and Music
four days every week. We go our school
library one day a week. We go to the
computer lab one day a week. Sometimes
we earn extra computer lab time by doing our homework.
